CAPITAL ONE BECOMES TITLE SPONSOR OF THE ORANGE BOWL

Multi-Year Deal Elevates Capital One to Official Credit Card and Banking Partner of the New College Football Playoff

 

McLean, Va.; Bristol, Conn.; and Miami Lakes, Fla. – As part of an agreement with ESPN, Capital One has secured the title sponsorship of the Orange Bowl, beginning with the Capital One Orange Bowl to be played on December 31, 2014, in South Florida.  The multi-year deal builds on Capital One’s substantial support of college athletics by becoming the official credit card and bank of the new College Football Playoff. 

 

The Capital One Orange Bowl will play host to a College Football Playoff Semifinal  in year two of the agreement (New Year's Eve 2015) and again in year five (2018).  In the other four years of the agreement, the Capital One Orange Bowl will feature the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Champion (or ACC replacement team should the champion qualify for the College Football Playoff) against a highly ranked team from the Big Ten, Southeastern Conference (SEC) or Notre Dame.

ESPN will have exclusive coverage of the College Football Playoff beginning with the 2014-2015 season and feature the four top teams as ranked by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. The Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual and the Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the first Playoff Semifinals, which will pit No. 1 versus No. 4 and No. 2 versus No. 3 on January 1, 2015. The winners of those two games will face off in the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on January 12, 2015.
